The Ancient Lands: Rise of the Dragon Queen

Draconic Council

Episode 6: Metallic Dragons, Arise

The hero's, having survived the second assassination attempt upon their group as a whole, are summoned to the meet with the Council once again.

Being brought before the council, they allow the silver dragon Otaaryliakkarnos—in the guise of the human Elia—to take the floor and present her request. The Draconic council has extended an invitation to the humanoid factions involved in the current Dragon Cult goings on. The Council of Stockholm was unable to agree upon whom from their various factions should go. The only ones they could even come close to agreeing upon was the hero's. Being told of this, Elia approaches the PC's and offers to take them to the meeting place immediately.

The Hero's, agreeing, leave the city of Stockholm through the West Gate, and then see Elia transform into her true self. A silver dragon of immense size. She turns her head to the hero's, and tells them to mount up. The only one not to mount up is MIKE. He simply informs her that he would prefer to stay behind.

Granting him his wish, Otaaryliakkarnos flies off in a westerly direction. After a day of travel, she stops on the edge of the Atlantic Ocean to rest for the evening. During the initial journey overland, the hero's see various ruins of isolated settlements and smoke hanging on the horizon. They see, in the far off distance, smoke on the horizon. Asking what has been happening, Otaaryliakkarnos informs them that various cult marauders, brigands, refugees, and chromatic dragons bent on destruction have been terrorizing the area.

In the morning, they continue on their journey, out over the Atlantic ocean. The journey again takes most of the day. They land on a small chain of islands, one of which was an active volcano. That's the one they land on, and then Otaaryliakkarnos changes back into her human guise as Elia and escorts them in and introduces her to the other 4 council members.

Protanther – Male Gold Dragon

Ileuthra – Male Brass Dragon

Nymmurh - Male Bronze Dragon

Tazmikella – Female Copper Dragon

After introductions are made, Otaaryliakkarnos, in her guise as Elia, takes the fifth and final throne. After several tense heartbeats Protanther finally said "Convince us why we should not leave you humanoids to your own fate? Why, as Otaaryliakkarnos suggests, should we join forces with you in the fight against the Cult of Dragon?"

Several hours go by, each side arguing their case for or against the proposed alliance, and neither side doing much in the way of changing the minds of the other. Then, during the dinner break, TIM says a single word; treasure. This got the group talking about what do all dragon's crave, including those of a good bent. The answer was simple; treasure.

Still using their words, the party tried to sway the council of dragons to their cause, with little to no success. One of the party, tired of the lack of progress, shouted "TREASURE", at which point all five of the dragons stopped their arguing with one another, and with the party, and focused on the one that spoke up.

"You may keep the treasure that the cult is accumulating for her return."

Protanther then said "Go on."

"The cult is accumulating a vast treasure to honor her upon her return. You may keep it. Including the Masks." Then a discussion started about the fate of the Dragon Masks, with the Council attempting to destroy the masks first; but, if unable to destroy the masks, the masks will be kept in safekeeping by dragonkind.

The final decision of the Draconic Council: To join with the humanoids in their attack on the Cult of the Dragon. They will keep any dragon masks retrieved, and 1/3 of the treasure, not including that which needs to be returned to survivors of the cultist activities.

With an agreement reached, Otaaryliakkarnos had the party mount upon her, and flew back to Stockholm.
